Join Cheryl for an exciting Barrier Island Photo Workshop on Tuesday, August 1, from 4-7:30 PM. During this boat photo workshop, you’ll learn photography techniques (shutter and aperture best practices, white balance, ISO) and composition skills, see gorgeous coastlines, and learn about the fragile and dynamic (constantly changing) barrier island environment as we ride in comfort (on a pontoon- a super comfortable boat!) through the bays of Westhampton Beach, Quogue, and East Quogue. Explore the renowned scenic areas of the East End of Long Island on the bay and photograph the wetlands, marshes, and wildlife in their natural habitat.
Join me for a truly unforgettable photo workshop
What better way to learn photography than to be in nature, studying beauty, seeing light and exquisite colors with a camera in hand? The Barrier Island Photo Workshop has been scheduled to coordinate with high tide, enabling the participants to get off the boat in certain areas for an extra incredible perspective. As we return from our Barrier Island Photo Workshop journey and head west, we’ll capture the sunset.
The Barrier Island Photo Workshop is a new entry to Cheryl’s Hamptons Photo Workshops and to celebrate this exciting outing, Cheryl is offering an introductory price of $235 for this three-and-a-half-hour guided boat photo workshop on August 1st. Raindate is August 3, same time (4-7:30 PM).

What others are saying
“Cheryl’s photo workshops are one of the best things I have done. She is an amazing teacher… I have enjoyed two photo workshops and can’t wait for the next time I can join her.”
If you are anywhere within a decent car, train or bus ride of Westhampton, New York, get in touch with Cheryl Machat Dorskind and join her for one of her photo workshops. Cheryl teaches photography online, mentoring photography students all over the world. She is also a portrait photographer, a master at hand-painting photographs, and a published author.I had a great time and wanted to pitch a tent on the beach, roast marshmallows and fall asleep under the stars. I would go back tomorrow if I could. I would love to do one in the Fall, in the Winter, in the Springtime.”
“Thank you for a great workshop last Sat. I had a wonderful time. Not only did we visit some beautiful and unique landscapes but it gave me an opportunity to explore my own photography skills. I learned what a difference a polarizing filter can make! I am very pleased with my results and loved the relaxed, supportive feel of the workshop. Thanks again for a great day. I slept well that night! 🙂
“I learned on the shoot that a DOF (Depth of Field) app was available for my iPhone; and I downloaded it and Cheryl instructed me on how to use it for my D7000. It’s very helpful and I will continue to use it in the future. Cheryl also instructed us on which filters to use for different lighting situations and my neutral density filter was extremely useful that day. It filtered out strong sunlight and preserved detail in my photo and my pictures were not overexposed. Thank you, Cheryl, for your time and expertise on this shoot.”
